Before you even think about going to the prooving grounds or PG you will need to take a good look at your character and equipment, to make your trip worthwhile you will want to carry as many roots with you as you can when you return, so for every item you carry, ask yourself the question, do I really need this, there is no need to goto pg with six or seven differnt weapons when one or two will easily do the job, the same goes for spell books.
I have added a checklist below as well as some advice on the items I do and do not take to PG with me, please remember this is how I root, and what works for me, may not work for you, so read this guide, talk to others and make your own choices.
Containers
Use insulated bags, boxes or if your lucky enough your trunk(s) or pouches, empty these of anything you can locker, sell or sac and then re-fill with any reagents that you will need.
Weapons
Use one or two light, disposable weapons which you can sac towards the end of your rooting trip to free up a little extra weight, I have always tried to use either pierce or slash weapon types as the majority of mobs in PG will not be immune to these types.
Books
Take a long hard look at your books and their contents, do you really need that heavy book with nexus in it, or other type of transport spells, locker these books and free up some extra room.
Armor
This is going to be the hardest part to work out for you, I try and remove everything I can and go naked into PG to get the most out of my weight (17/17 str sucks) it will depend on strength, how many roots you want to go for, your level, how far down into pg you want to go, etc etc. I would just say use your best judgement and trial and error to work out what armor you can leave at home and what you really need.
Reagents
Try and get some weightless reagents to take with you and fill your bags with them, these can be replaced by roots as you go, just make sure to only take reagents that you will need and use so as to not waste gold, again this is somthing you will learn with practice.
Gold
Don't forget to deposit and gold you have on you before you head to the prooving grounds, its not needed there (There is a shop there, but the only nice thing he sells is negation orbs)
