Combat - New Player Guide

Near where you first start out will be a room with a couple of easy mobs in it. Before attacking somthing new we would always advise using the consider command, this will give you two lines of information:

Score Screen

You are just about as experienced as a raccoon: This means we are about as trained as the raccoon is, so we should be hitting it as much as it will be hitting me.

A raccoon looks weaker than you: This means that we are slightly stronger with more Hit points than the raccoon.

With a result like this it should be a fair fight, with the scales tipped in our favor due to the fact I can flee and sleep to regain my hit points, spell points and stamina, where as the mob cannot. (This is not always the case when you reach higher levels)

Second Combat Screen

Just a little extra information here: the image to the right shows the end of the fight with the raccoon. As you can see I gained 108 experience points. Some mobs will carry equipment so it is always wise to see if there is anything left in their corpses. You may even get lucky and find yourself a scatter item. (These are rare items that appear in the world and most can be worth a lot of money)

When fighting mobs there is always a small gap between each round. This is where you will want to cast your spells, bash, kick, use any items etc. It will be very important to learn how to do this as early as possible because if you dont fit in your action between rounds you loose your attacks and defences in the next. Most spells will fit into this space, the few that dont won't be available to you while in Lasler and by the time you get them, you hopefully wont need this guide! :)
